Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

Theft less than $100

I just received a citation for theft under 100 dollars. It was in Frederick County,Md. I am also in the Military and i have a clear record, I am very ashamed for this act and want to know how to keep this off my record. What options do i have? i am trying to get as much information as i can before i get the court date in the mail. Thanks

The best thing you can do is get a good lawyer, who knows the judges and prosecutors in Frederick County, and who can fight to get you the best possible result. Keep in mind that even though you may be guilty, there may be a factual, practical, or constitutional reason to get your case dismissed or get a not guilty finding.

If this is your first offense, an experience criminal trial lawyer will know how to get the proper disposition to maintain a clean record. Contact me if you are so inclined.

You do not want this particular crime on your record because it is a crime of moral turpitude. You can be impeached as to your character in the future. Run a Google search on it and you will understand.

No matter what, hire a lawyer! It is not the amount of money involved here which is seemingly minimal - it is the nature of the crime itself.
