Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Maryland
copyright law.
What are my rights in altering(cleaning up old records)music, drama, and speech recordings for profit? Do I need permission from record companies? Or if they are old enough, can I just re-record them? This is not for mass production, but for a single copy as the final product.

Re: copyright law.
You will probably need permission. Copyrights last a long time...75 years from publication if by a company. Life plus 50 years if by an individual. The exclusive right to make derivative works is one of the rights of a copyright owner.
