when i was 16 my step father punched me in my face i am now 20 and my mom is no longer with this man but we did not seek medical attention or call the cops he punched me because i slightly hit him in an area i shouldnt have but when he hit me back he went at my face at least 3 strikes to my eye socket and missed once when my mom stepped in to stop him and he stopped it made the whie part of my eye completely red and it was puffed out i really probally should of went to the hospital but was scared they would take my brothers and sisters out of the house so i was wondering if i would be allowed to press charges against him now because he is no longer in the household and nether am i i moved out the day i turned 18 i understand i was in the wrong but at the same time a more cival punishment would have been more parent like am i allowed to press charges i live in maryland

It's far too late for you to press criminal charges. A civil suit could have been filed up until you turned 19, so it's too late for that too.
