14 year old legal rights in visitation

My 14 year old son does not want to see his father every other week he would prefer not to see him at all but I would like him to see him at least every other weekend they can mend their relationship (there has been physical and mental abuse). What are his legal rights or does he even any? What age does he get a say?

Your son would be of age to file a petition with the court regarding custody and visitation at 16.
