The father is seeking to have a say in the upbringing of your son but to allow him to live with you. He wants access to health and school records, and to be consulted by you in the important decisions regarding your son, such as health, education, religious upbringing etc. The courts generally favor joint legal custody unless there is some indication that it would be a detriment to the welfare of the child for this. His noninvolvement, albeit for a relatively short period of time, is a minus factor, but there may be extenuating circumstances.
