Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

hi, im 17 years old and living in maryland. My brother has custody of me. He is a military police officer. He abuses me both Mentally and physicaly. He leaves me at the house with no food, or money to get food. He will stay gone up to two weeks sometimes. I really need help. He threatens me that he will knock my teeth out. I called cps once but nothing was done. i need to get emancipated. Please help...

I suggest you either try again with cps or go to your local police station and swear out a complaint. The police should investigate and refer you to social services, which might result in more action than your going on your own. Once you turn 18, you'll legally be an adult and no longer subject to your brother's control, but of course you'll then need to be able to take care of yourself. If you can prove that you are able to take care of yourself now, you could file a court petition for emancipation, but from what you stated that doesn't seem to be the case.
