Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

I'm 19 years old and my mother constantly verbally abuses me by calling me worthless, horrible, using explicit language, and sometimes strikes me in the face, back of the head, and stomach with her hand or her fist. Is there any legal action I can take against this?

Yes. The next time it happens, call the police IMMEDIATELY -- they may charge your mother with assault and battery charge. If you needed medical attention, you can sue her in civil court for the damages. If you live in the house with your mother, at 19 years of age, you are legally allowed to move out and be on your own. Why don't you? If you don't live with your mother, STAY AWAY from her!

Best of luck.******The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.******
