Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Absolute divorce

Is there a waiting period under absolute divorce to remarry? How long do I have to wait to remarry after an absolute divorce is granted?

Re: Absolute divorce

One could remarry immediately after the grating of an Absolute divorce, HOWEVER, it is advisable to wait at least thirty days after the entry of the judgment because the other spouse could file an appeal within that period. If the appeal is successful, you would still be married. Being married to two people at the same time is considered bigamy and a criminal offense in many jurisdictions.
