Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
I Am afraid that I have made a horrible mistake in the visitation the court gave
To be brief, I had a child out of wedlock, am a student and also work. I am 24 years old. My child's father 21 has married a 15 year old and the court has ordered every other weekend overnight visitation. My son recentley was burned with an iron by accident..and he did see a doctor, however the 15 year old child bride has reported me for abuse. I am afraid, even though the abuse issue is resolved she may begin to hurt the child and blame the abuse on me in order for the father and herself to gain full custody...of which I now have. I want to get a modification of visitation/or could I get a restraining order against the wife. My son should not have to go through detectives everytime he falls...he is a toddler. She is not mentally stable as I have a ten page letter where she basically threatens my life......Help...there is much more to this story but not enough space. thank you

Re: I Am afraid that I have made a horrible mistake in the visitation the court
It's very difficult to get a court to deprive a parent of visitation rights unless there is clear evidence of abuse. If your son comes back from a weekend with his father bearing bruises or other injuries or acting strangely, you should immediately have a doctor examine him. If there is medical evidence to support a charge, you may have a basis for seeking modification of visitation.
