Adultery is still a ground for divorce in MD but you must be able to prove it with solid evidence not just your supposition. If he's admitted it to you or someone else, that goes a long way. You can get an order for alimony and child support and it can be taken from his retirement check by court order. For alimony, you must show you are unable to be self sufficient, or at least that you need retraining to get yourself back in the job market. All property acquired during the marriage through you or your husband's earnings or by joint gift or inheritance is considered marital and subject to being divided up by the court. In doing so the court will take into account what caused the breakup, the respective economic positions of the parties, the duration of the marriage, and other factors. You should consult an experienced family law attorney in your area for assistance.
