Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
Angry Ex-Wife
I am engaaged and my fiancee's ex-wife is VERY angy about it even though we have been dating for a a few years. They have shared custody of their son. Through a websearch, I found out she has filed ''Plaintiff's Petition/Motion to modify custody, attachments and affidavit, filed ; Plaintiff's Petition/Motion to Modidfy Visitation Filed ; Plaintiff's Information Sheet, Filed. Additionally, both my fiancee' and I according to the website have been issued the following: ''Summons issued for personal service to defendant and mailed to plaintiff''. What does all this this mean? and why am I involved? What are my options? We have not received any summons as yet.

Re: Angry Ex-Wife
Your fiance's ex is trying to get full custody of their son. You should not be a party to this, since you aren't part of the current custody order. She will have to serve you with the summons, either by certified mail or a process server. Once you get the papers, your fiance will have to file a response. He would be well advised to engage an experienced family law attorney in this case.
