Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

asset and debt allocation, obligation

we filed divorce paper in 2008 with an

agreement that we do not owe each

other anything, except one document:

I owe him ~$30k. But I did not sign

that document so it's not officially

recorded by the court. Since then, he

kept asking me to pay back.

My question is that whether I have

leagal obligation to pay him? When he

tried to push me for divorce,my

income was much lower than his and

there are debts from my house. Did he

have any obligation on my situation

instead asking me to pay him?

Re: asset and debt allocation, obligation

Since the case is in divorce court, that court will look at and hear evidence as to property division, who is responsible for debts, etc. The unsigned "agreement" isn't binding as such, but may be considered as evidence of an agreement by the court.
