Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
Attorney does not respond
My attorney in a child support case is not responding to my letters and does not return calls. He also did not provide the documents from the Court. What can I do? A hearing is scheduled in 2 weeks and I know he did not do what he was supposed to be doing. It almost seemed that he was protecting the other side rather then me. This is why I am insisting on getting copies etc.
He is simply not responding! What can I do?
The last 2 letters he wrote were highly unprofessional and obvious to the opposing council that he disagrees with me.
Unfortunately I could not find a different attorney to take this case as it is very close to the hearing and hopefully to the end of the case.
Please anyone out there with an advice of what can be done?

Re: Attorney does not respond
You need to try and schedule an appointment with the attorney to try and clear the air. If he won't do that, you need to get a new attorney who can get the hearing postponed so he/she can have time to prepare the case. You should write the attorney a letter discharging him and asking him to withdraw his appearance. The worst thing you can do is to proceed with an attorney in which you have no confidence.
