back child support maryland

I live in Maryland and my ex husband was court ordered to pay 893.00/month child support in 1997. He never paid it. Can I get the back child support now? my daughter is now 21 and my son is 17

You can seek to enforce the order, but by waiting so long you may be subject to certain defenses by your ex. If he lives in MD you can file a petition to show cause seeking a contempt citation. If he is employed, you should also ask for a money judgment for all of the support now due (you can continue to collect until your son turns 18 or finishes high school, whichever is last). I strongly suggest you retain an experienced family attorney to assist you with this.
