Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Can my ex boyfriend's wife serve me with custody papers for him? And when she did she did not tell me they were in the stuff she handed me they were on the bottom so i couldnt see them.

Yes, anyone over 18 who is not a party to the case can serve papers.
