Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Car issues

My husband and I own a car together. He wants his name off the car since we are getting a divorce. Can a judge take his name off the car in divorce court or order it to be done??

Re: Car issues

If your husband is willing to transfer his interest in the car to you, all he needs to do is sign the back of the title, and then you can apply for a title in your name at MVA. You didn't mention it, but I assume there's a loan out against the car and he thinks he'll be released from responsibility from the loan if you take title to the car. However, the lender is unlikely to release him, even if you're the one making the payments.
