Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Change Venue

My husband filed for divorce in the county he now lives in. The children and I still reside in the marital home and that is in a different county. I am waiting for M.V.L.S. to find me a pro bono attorney, in the meantime I have to respond the the writ of summons. I have to do so by the 14th, so I will be doing this alone. I need to know how exactly to word this letter to request to change venue from A.A. County to St.Mary's county. My children's daycare is in St. Mary's county, I have to get them by 5:30 and won't make it if court runs late, it's like 2 1/2 hrs. from me. Also all my witness' (like 10 people) are here in this area. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Change Venue

The venue rules allow the person filing the suit to do so in the county where either party resides. So you will not be able to get a change of venue. But you better get legal representation right away.
