Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Changing back to my maiden name.

I have been married and divorced 3 times, each time keeping the name of my ex-husband. I would like to return to using my maiden name as I will not be getting married again.

Can I just start changing my name on documents (e.g. dirver's license, soc. sec card, etc) or is there a legal process that must be followed?

You should go to the civil clerk's office of the circuit court in your county and file a petition for change of name. After a period of time during which you must place a legal notice to notify anyone who wants to object, the petition will be signed off by a judge, and you will have legally changed your name.
