Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Child Custody

My husband has had sole custody of his children for the past six years. His ex-wife is constantly disrupting our lives with the threat of suing for custody. This has been an ongoing thing for six years. Is there anything we can do to prevent this from happening? Her tactics include calling DSS, calling the State's Attorney's office regarding our family therapy-Court ordered-and giving them inacurrate information. Also, is she allowed to seek family counselling for herself and the children without my husband's consent?

Re: Child Custody

There's not much you can do to stop her from calling DSS, etc. Hopefully, if these agencies look into her complaints and find them to be without substance, they will not bother you further without more objective evidence of problems. As for your question re counseling, she should not have the right to enroll the children in counseling; that is within the control of the custodial parent. However, if she's doing this during scheduled visitation, she does have some discretion in what she does. If your counselor thinks this is detrimental to the children, your husband can try to get a court order preventing her from doing this.
