Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
child custody law in maryland
I am divorced with sole custody of my son. There is no set visitation in our divorce decree only that the absent parent has visitation within reasonable notification. Is it legal for me to move from Maryland to another state if I am willing to make arrangements for visitation?

The general answer to your question is yes. As long as the noncustodial parent is able to have reasonable visitation and is not obligated to bear the additional expense of same necessitated by your relocation, it shouldn't be a problem. However, if your ex-spouse complains to a court, you will have to justify your departure. This is why it's always best to have a written separation agreement that covers these situations.
