Re: child law

A child can not divorce his parents. If your father is abusive, you can report it to Child Protective Services in the Department of Social Services, or to a teacher, and if your complaints are valid contact with your father will be eliminated or significantly curbed. If you are independent and self-supporting, you might be declared an emancipated minorand your father have no obligation to support you and no right to be a part of your life. When you are legally an adult, at eighteen, you can sever connections with your father. But you can't divorce him.
