Child Support

My boyfriend and I are splitting up and he makes $85,000 a year. He thinks he will only have to pay about 400 a month for child support. Do you know how much he would have to pay? Our daughter is 5months old.

The amount each parent has to provide for child support depends on their combined gross monthly income and other factors, such as who pays for the child's health insurance, any day care expense, and any uninsured medical expenses. If you are not working because of the baby and there is no other income besides his salary, he'd have to pay about $865 a month in basic support.
