Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

child support & health Ins

How is the health ins costs figured into my support payments? Is it by using the the figure for the family plan or for just what is paid for the child ? The calculators say family plan but a lawyer once told me the child's costs only. Which is it?Also, if I'm 100% disabled ad on workers comp, does the daycare cost I incure to go to the different Dr appts considered a usable daycare expense per child support guidelines? If I don't go to the appots I lose my comp benefits. Most of the time, if not all of the time, the appts are a 3 hr drive one way, 6 hrs round trip depending on traffic. My child has just turned 12 and is afraid to stay by herself.

Thank You

Thanks

Re: child support & health Ins

The parent paying the health insurance premium deducts the difference in premium between an individual plan and a family plan to insure the child from his/her gross income to determine his/her income for support purposes. The child care expense is added to the basic support amount before the total amount is pro-rated based on income. The expense you describe appears to be legitimately within the child care category.
