Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
Child Support
If my husband is required to pay child support until his daughter graduates, or is 19 years of age, but she is failing out of school at 18, and may be expelled from school because of drug abuse can we have the child support stopped sooner than 19? Thank you.

Re: Child Support
If the child drops out of high school after turning l8, she would be considered to be emancipated and would therefore no longer be entitled to support.
Re: Child Support
The answer to your question may depend on the exact wording of the child support order. Normally child support terminates when the child turns 18, but it is often continued until the child is out of high school. If this child leaves school without graduating, the support can probably stop when she turns 18, but I would advise you to have a lawyer look at the order.
