Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Child support overpayment

My daughter lives with her mother and stepfather in Maryland and I live in Massachusetts. Although she turned 18 in Sept. 2006, the wage assignment did not stop. When speaking to her mother, she stated that it was scheduled to stop automatically on Sept 9 2007. I waited to file a termination order because I believed her. After it did not stop, I drove to Maryland and filed the order. I have now over paid by close to $10,000. My daughter turned 20 this past September. My ex wife has hired an attorney and they are asking me to pay his fees of $1,500. I want the support stopped but also wonder if I am entitled to any of the support that I have paid over the past 2 years since her 18th birthday? Thank you.
