Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Child support, What is % of pay?

I have a settlement for child support against me. When the judgement was made I made a whole lot more money. I now only work part time and I am trying to work out the settlement with my ex in a good way without going back to court. What is the percentage of pay that the state requires for Child support?

Thanks in Advance,

In general the amount you contribute to child support is based on the percentage of your income that would have gone to supporting your child had you stayed with your wife. The statutes spell out the amount of expected contribution based on joint income. I believe that it would be best to have whatever agreement you and your wife work out reviewed by an attorney and memorialized in a court order. Take care.
