Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
child support
Recently I was stopped by a police offficer who claimed that my license was suspended for non payment of CS which turn out to be a false accusation. My license was taken away, I was strip seach by police which was an embarassment plus I had to go to the office of CS to correct their mistake, pay for a new license go to court to clear my name and record. I am still paying them. What kind of action if any could be taken again them for public humiliation, obviously someone did not do a good job with my payment record (back pay taken from my check by employer every two weeks). My son is now twenty years old. While I have to go pay for a new license and lost time from work I still had to pay for what they claimed is back pay although I was not under any court order to pay child support before and I have record proof that I supported my child still do. He does not even received money from his mother when I send the money and the state of Maryland has been collecting from me for more than ten years. His mother now lives in Georgia moving from Indiana. I was denied a passport to travel to my mother's funeral because of all the complications related to the child support. I truly need help.

Re: child support
First of all, your obligation under MD law to support your child has now ended since he's 20. So unless there was an arrearage that accumulated before he turned 18 or graduated high school, you should file court papers to end the wage garnishment.
As to your humiliation claim, apparently at one time you had an arrearage which generated the license suspension, and that stayed on your record even though you apparently "caught up". Candidly, it's very difficult to win such cases against government entities, even though it seems the system didn't work for you.
