My friend's x-boyfriend and her bought a car together. Now she have to make the payments cause he wont. He took the car. The car got reposessed. She payed for the car until they split up. When they split up she stop paying and he did not pay. They are coming after her for the money because she was a co-signer and they could not find him. They have a daughter together, and he also does not pay her child support. What can she do?? Please help. They bought the car in Virginia when they were here.

First of all, she has to know where to find him. If she does, she can file a court action for paternity and child support, or just child support if he is the named father on the birth certificate. But he has to be notified of the suit so he can defend himself in court. If he's working, she can get an order for child support and his employer will be ordered to send the child support to her from his paycheck.

As for the car, she could sue him for reimbursement of part of what she paid the finance company, but again this depends on if he gets a paycheck.
