common law marriage

I live where common law marriage is recognized. Some years ago I was in a commmon law marriage. About two years later I married in Maryland. Did I break any laws?

If you were in a common law marriage that was recognized in the jurisdiction where you were living, you would have had to obtain a divorce before remarrying. This presumes that you and your common law spouse held yourselves out as married and were recognized as such in your community. Your current marriage would therefore be void.
