Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

I have a court order that specifies that child support shall terminated when the child reaches age 18.

Do I still need to file a motion to modify?

This is in Maryland

Thanks

If you are paying via an earnings withholding order, I would coordinate with your company's payroll office to see whether they will automatically terminate upon proof of majority. If they want a court order, you'll have to file a motion. By the way, the law in MD provides for payment beyond 18 up to 19 if the child is still in high school upon their 18th birthday, in which case support terminates upon graduation. Check your order to make sure it doesn't say that.
