Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Court of Special Appeals

Can I represent myself in a case with my ex-husband in the court of special appeals? It is about him waiving his right for paternity in child support two years ago. I can not afford an attorney and do not qualify for free legal help.

Re: Court of Special Appeals

Anyone can represent themselves in a legal proceeding, but unless you familiarize yourself with the strict rules of that court and follow them to a "t", your case may be thrown out. You didn't indicate whether you or he is the one appealing. Each side must file a legal brief with a specific format and content. Then you have to appear in front of a 3 judge court to argue the case.
