Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
Credit Report Access by Spouse
Is there any way to keep my husband (we are separated) from accessing my credit report? None of our credit is joint. This is a second marriage.
Obviously, he knows my social security number.
Background: I have recently consolidated my credit card debt thru CCS, have been making regular consistent payments to improve my credit rating and lower my debt. Accessing my credit report too often will only keep my credit score lowered (he knows this, too). Help!

Re: Credit Report Access by Spouse
I suggest you contact the 3 major credit bureaus (Transunion, Experian and Equifax) and see if there is some way to password protect your credit. Obviously this is very difficult when your personal information is known. He may be trying to see if you're incurring debt that he might be responsible for, or just trying to find out where you are spending your money, in case that becomes an issue in a divorce proceeding. You could theoretically try to get a court injunction against him, but that would be very hard to enforce.
