Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
Custody case
I'm currently living in Pa. but I have a custody case filed in MD. It's actually a counter-complaint. The other party has not filed an answer to my complaint and she was told that she had to file an answer within 30 days. The thirty days will be up on 8/06/2004 and I haven't received an answer. What does this mean? And what are my legal rights regarding this?

Re: Custody case
If your counterclaim is basically the opposite of the mother's complaint--i.e., each seeking custody, the court will probably treat her original complaint as the answer to your counterclaim. If you've raised new issues, she should be required to answer, and if you complaint to the court, they will probably give her a warning to file an answer.
