Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

custody

my parents have sole custody of my five year old i have since had another child and have held a job, went back to school and took parenting classes. Everytime i acheeve another step they put another well if you do this....we will then give her back. i am ready to file in court since i agreed to give them custody 4 years ago and I was never found unfit at the time it was the best for my child. my question is if i go to court can my parents then add more stipulations I have to do or live by in order to get / keep custody of my oldest child( they have no rights to the youngest)even if they have nothing to do with endangering the child ie I can only move within 30 miles from them or I can have her if i promise to not be around there father? (there is nothing wrong with him they just don't like the fact that he left me and his kids for another women) can they do this? will I have to live by there rules forever even if I am fit and stable?

Re: custody

You can file a court petition seeking to regain custody of your daughter. You should cite how things have changed since you gave up custody 4 years ago, indicating how you are now fit to care for her and that it would be in her best interests to be with you. The law prefers that parents have custody over their children unless that would be against the child's best interests.

If you are serious about this, you should retain an experienced family attorney to represent you in this matter.
