Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
I have custody of my teenage son. I have gone through as messy divorce where his step mother has taken my son and turned him against me. She is not his biological mother. I want to get him away from this situation so I have asked his biological mother to come get him since she will not let me around him. I just want to know if I can legally have his mother come get him and if I can sign my rights over to her?

You can enter into an agreement with the father transferring custody to him of your son, or he can file a petition to modify custody to which you could consent. You would then become obligated to pay child support and would retain rights of visitation if you want them. Beyond that, the stepmother could file a petition for adoption which, if granted, would terminate your parental rights and responsibilities altogether.
