custody

i have a 1 year old daughter and me and my boyfriend broke up recently and im trying to get full custody of her. he has never really paid for anything shes needed, he doesnt know anything about her medical insurance, hes only went to the doctors with us two or three times since she was born, he doesnt have a steay job and when he does work he gets paid under the table. is there any way he would get any type of custody wether it be full or partial?

It is highly unlikely that he would have any chance of getting physical custody. There is a small chance he might be awarded joint legal custody if he seeks it. That would give him more of a say in her upbringing, even though you would be the sole physical custodian. Since you weren't married, the odds of him even being granted that aren't great.

If you aren't receiving public assistance for your daughter, you should file a petition for child support against him. You may have to legally establish that he's the father if his name isn't on the birth certificate. Even though he may not work steadily, you could capture an income tax refund (assuming he files) or get his driver's license suspended if he doesn't pay per a court order.
