Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

daughter of recruit

I want to join the military. My girlfriend and I have a six month old daughter. The recruiter says that I need to surrender physical and legal custody before I join. I want to give my girlfriend sole physical custody, and one or both of my parents my share of the joint legal custody. Is this possible

Only with the consent of your girlfriend. If she's agreeable, you'll have to get a court order.
