Re: need a detailed summary of a limited, and absolute divorce.

A limited divorce, which is like a legal separation, can be granted for: cruelty of treatment or excessively vicious conduct directed toward you or a minor child of yours, desertion or voluntary separation (meaning you both agreed to separate). A final or absolute divorce can be based on: adultery, desertion or voluntary separation for at least a year, or nonvoluntary separation for at least two years, certain criminal convictions, insanity or the aforementioned cruelty of treatment/excessively vicious conduct. If you go to a local library they should have a copy of the MD code and you can find detailed information under Family Law, Secs. 7-102 and 7-103.
