Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

division of property

My name is on both deed and mortgage and have been married for 7 years. I'm divorcing now and have a buyer for the house, but my lawyer said that if she files a motion to freeze my assests i can't sell the house and transfer the title to the new owner. I am not going to hide the money from her, i'm just in financial debt and need the money to pay all the bills and I will give her share to her. Is this true?

As long as the sales proceeds are preserved for marital distribution there is no reason to stop the sale. I suspect she doesn't want that either. The two of you ought to be able to work out an agreement on this.
