if you bean seperated for a year how long can a absolute divorce take

It would depend on what unsettled issues exist. Examples which may or may not apply to your case include property division (including real property, bank accounts, retirements accounts), custody, child support, alimony, marital debt. If all of the issues are settled and a written agreement has been signed, then it should be a straightforward matter.
