Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Divorce / Filing

I have all the documents I need ready to file for divorce, but I've heard that I should file a ''prayer'' along with the regular court documents. Is this necessary and is it like a summary of what I am asking for or is there more to it?

The "prayer", as you suspected is a statement of what you want the court to do--grant you a divorce, child custody, support, division of property, alimony, attorney fees, etc. If there are no children involved and no property to be divided or other monetary issues, you just ask for a divorce on the ground you cited in the factual part of the complaint.
