Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

divorce

my husband was divorced 20 years ago. he retired from the federal government three years ago. he then found out the attorney's had made a mistake by calculating a higher percentage of the pension his ex-wife would receive. His divorce lawyer is dead, so he went to another. They went to court in Maryland to have it corrected and the court said it couldn't be changed because you have 30 days to appeal after a divorce.

We didn't know! Why didn't the lawyer know the law?

My husband paid a lot of money for the stupidity of this lawyer in my opinion. Does he have any recourse with either lawyer?

You might have a claim against the estate of the first lawyer, but if he died some time ago, chances are that his estate has been long ago closed. If he was part of a firm, the firm might still have malpractice coverage, and you could try and make a claim against that coverage. As for the second lawyer, why would he/she be responsible?
