Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Divorce

My husband move out 10 months ago and is now leaving with his baby mama in South Dakota and he is filling for divorce (irreconcilable differences) what are my options if I want to contest it as Maryland laws and South Dakota laws maybe different.

Re: Divorce

Most states have 1 year residency requirements before someone can file for a divorce there, but SD may be different. You were vague as to exactly what you want to contest. If you are actually trying to prevent the divorce and he legally files for it there, you'd have to go there to defend it, or at least hire a local attorney to do so. If you aren't fighting the divorce itself but there are property or monetary issues involved, or if you and he also have children together, you could file in MD and if your case is filed first, he would probably have to fight it here.
