I have been with my husband 4 22 years we have been married 4 13. the home is in his name only and he also bought a piece of property and put it in his sisters name. he says I get nothing if i leave. his sister rents out our basement and between the two of them they are tormenting me emotionally. i am a homemaker without any access to any money its all in his name. please tell me what i can do. he wont even give me monet for food and other basics. we have no children. thank u .

If the home was purchased after you got married, or even if he bought it before, if mortgage

payments have been made since you got married, you have a marital interest in the property. It doesn't matter which one of you made the payments. The same is true of the bank accounts, if the funds in them came from employment or some source other than inheritance or a gift to him. If the funds he used to buy the property he put in his sister's name came from earned income, you have a claim for dissipation of marital assets against him. You should consult with a family law attorney for more information.
