Interrogatories are questions presented by one side in the divorce to the other. The purpose is to gather information, such as finances, and job history to be used in the divorce action. If your case is serious enough to have interrogatories, it is serious enough for you to have a lawyer.
Re: divorce
Interrogatories are questions that must be answered under oath and are part of the discovery process. In general, you have thirty days from the date they were served on you to provide a written response. Failure to respond may result in sanctions being ordered against you by the court.
Re: divorce
Discovery is the process that occurs before trial where each party has the opportunity to ask questions of the other. Interrogatories are written questions and oral questions can be asked through deposition.
There are many court rules that apply over the process of discovery. This process is but one of the reasons you should consider hiring an attorney.
