Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland
Divorce Non-US Citizen
I am in the military and married a Spanish National while stationed in Spain in 1999. I am currently stationed in Maryland, however, my official residence is New York. Who has jurisdiction over my divorce? Can I request to waive the residency requirement in Maryland? How should I proceed with this divorce. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have resided in Maryland for the past year, you may file in Maryland. If there are property or custody issues, you may need to file where the property and/or children are.
