Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

divorce qestions

Hi. We married for less then 5 years and without any kids. Im a US citizan and i apply to my wife and she a US citizan also now. My wife has left me and moved back to India to live with her parents. We will be divorce soon because this is what she wants and not me.

Will I require to pay alimony if she move back and live in India?

The house and cars are of my name only because I buy it before we got maried. Could she claim to it by law?

How much time it takes to divorce?

Thank you.

Re: divorce qestions

You will be required to pay alimony only if she asked for it in the divorce and is able to prove that she cannot support herself or there is a significant disparity in your respective standards of living. If awarded, alimony is usually temporary to give the spouse time to get training or find a job. As to the property, if you paid on the mortgage or on a car note after you got married, she has a marital interest probably less than half. Divorce could take anywhere from 2 months to over a year depending on if it's contested or not.
