Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Divorce question

I am a permanent resident (hold a green card), married to a US citizen, live in WV, married tho in MD. I am leaving to go back to my country of origin, and will be seeking divorce. Am I able to do that from outside of the country, or do I need to be here? Spouse is agreeable to it. No children, seeking grounds of voluntary separation.

Re: Divorce question

West Virginia law applies to your situation since that's where you are now living. Most likely you will have to appear in court for a final hearing, but WV may have provisions that allow you to testify from afar if no one objects and there are no contested issues. You should contact a lawyer in your area specializing in family law for details.
