Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Divorce questions

I cannot afford an attorney to handle my divorce. My husband has already hired one, and they have compiled a settlement offer that is completely ridiculous. I would like to make a counter-offer but don't know how to go about it. Can I contact his attorney directly with my counter-offer? Or should I give the counter-offer to my husband directly?

Re: Divorce questions

Yes, you can contact his attorney directly. If you don't have the funds or income to afford an attorney, I would suggest contacting the Maryland Volunteer Lawyer's Service regarding pro bono representation. You may also want to contact the Circuit Court in your county and inquire about pro bono or reduced fee referrals.
