Any property that is acquired during the marriage using marital funds (e.g., salary, savings) is considered marital property subject to equitable division.

It really does not matter whether the property was acquired through issuance of debt or use of asset, the issue is whether marital property is involved. You should speak with an attorney to determine the marital estate.

Any agreement should be reviewed by counsel before you sign.

If he has caused loss of marital property then this is something that you want to be able to prove. Appropriate evidence will be needed.
